| Homeland Security Director to educate community
It might be a first time position for Shane Stovall, director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security in Plano, but as the new chairman of the Public-Private Partnership Committee for the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), Stovall is no stranger to his new duties.Stovall, who has spent more than ten years in the field of emergency planning, will be responsible for educating the community on disasters and emergencies while working in the private sector as well as defining the public-private relationship in emergency planning."It's an honor to be appointed as chairman," Stovall said. "It's an honor to work with the community as well as private businesses."After moving around in several cities like Chicago, Houston, and Virginia, Stovall came to Plano in 1990 and graduated from Plano Senior High School.
Winehouse Tour Manager Quits Over Health Fears
AMY WINEHOUSE's tour manager has quit amid claims the troubled star was ruining his health. Thom Stone is alleged to have found traces of heroin in his system, after passively inhaling fumes claimed to be from the singer and her husband Blake Fielder-Civil's drug use. Last month (Oct07) Stone presented Winehouse with a doctor's note outlining that the pressures of managing the singer was harming his health. A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "He was constantly bailing her out. He was watching them get off their head on drugs and wondering whether Amy was even going to get up on stage. It was a nightmare job." A friend of the couple says, "When he produced this note Blake and Amy thought it was a joke. They didn't get on with Thom and were taking the p**s when he tried to pull that excuse to leave.

Saudi pipeline fire death toll at 40 CNN) -- A gas pipeline fire in eastern Saudi Arabia killed 40 workers and injured nine others, the state oil conglomerate, Saudi Aramco, said Tuesday. Five of those killed in the Sunday incident were Saudi nationals employed by the company, while 35 were contractor employees, all but one from outside Saudi Arabia. The list of the non-Saudi workers killed included 18 Pakistanis, seven Bangladeshis, seven Indians, one South African and one Nepali, the company said. The pipeline was about 18 miles (30 km) from the Hawiyah Gas Plant, and Saudi Aramco said the fire happened "where maintenance work for new tie-ins was being conducted" by a contractor for the company on the Haradh-Uthmaniyah gas pipeline.
